2017 Community Impact Pro Bono Maximus Award Achievement

February 23, 2017

Giving back has always been part of this IT company’s business plan

From its beginning, Mytech Partners, Inc.’s unwavering focus has building connections with its customers and community. This dedication to increasing its impact by helping area nonprofits earned the company the Pro Bono Maximus Award at this year’s Community Impact Awards.

The Pro Bono Maximus Award recognizes a for-profit company with a superlative pro bono effort or project that provides professional services to Minnesota nonprofits or other worthy causes, and yields notable results. Qualifying companies included, but were not limited to, technological, legal, accounting or creative services.

Launched in 2000 by four partners, Mytech Partners, Inc. provides IT services to companies that have small or no IT staff. “We put a strategy in place, then execute and support that technology,” explains Partner and Vice President of Business Development Nathan Austin. “Giving back has always been at the core of who we are. From the start, we immediately began offering our services pro bono to three or four nonprofits. That number has risen to seven here in the Twin Cities. Nonprofits can be assured that when we take them on as a pro bono client, it is for the foreseeable future, not just for a limited time.” In addition, several key employees also serve in unpaid nonprofit board positions, and the staff is offered paid volunteer time.

Recognized multiple times as one of the Top 100 Best Companies to Work For, this is a company with heart. “Even though we use technology, we never lose sight that we are a people business,” confirms Austin. “We deliver what customers need to run their organizations effectively, and we do it with a personal touch. People want a relationship. They want us to know them by name, and vice versa. When they call, they don’t want to speak with someone new each time.  We are committed to building our organization to be large enough to meet customers’ expectations but using smaller teams so customers are dealing with the same core people on day-to-day issues.”

Austin says this Pro Bono Maximus Award is a surprising honor. “This award validates our mission to create success in our community. Our staff is proud to be part of a company that is giving back, and that is recognized for doing so. Hearing all the stories of the different organizations honored by these awards was inspiring. There is so much polarizing news. This event highlighted the fact that there’s more to the story. There are so many organizations – both not-for-profits and for-profits – working together to improve our community.  That’s what really matters.”

The 2017 Community Impact Awards honored businesses, social enterprise organizations, nonprofits, initiatives and individuals making a significant impact on communities in Minnesota. This was our first time recognizing nonprofit organizations in the awards, in honor of their profound influence on the quality of life in our state. This annual awards event is organized by Minnesota Business Magazine and sponsored by Media Relations Agency.
