Mytech Culture Experience January 2014

This month we would like to reflect on our December value of “Care and Share” by highlighting one of our Mytech team members who exemplifies this value every day – Graham Dodson. We at Mytech have the great privilege of working with Graham who joined us as a member of the remote service team. Graham emulates many of our Mytech values, however it is because he cares about the quality of service he provides, and he is always willing to share his knowledge with our team that he is being recognized today. Graham’s demonstrated ability to Care and Share earned him the position of Help Desk Team Lead back in October 2013. The excerpt below came from the Help Desk Team Lead description:

This position is one of leadership, not management, and is based on and maintained through demonstrated leadership, the ability to work with and mentor others, regardless of tier or tenure.

Graham’s natural ability to provide excellent service to our customers and to collaborate with peers is critical to what we at Mytech work toward. There is not a single person in our organization that has the ability to deliver on every facet of what we do. The value that we can bring to our customers, our staff and our community is that of a team comprised of talented individuals, but the only way we achieve that is if our team lives the value of Care and Share. Graham is a significant force in our organization that helps bind our team together into a cohesive community, where together are greater than their individual accomplishments.

Care and Share at a glance can seem like a really touchy-feely value and one could wonder what place it has in an IT services organization. The founders of Mytech have always felt and believed that we need to care about the community in which we live and share success with the community in which we live and thrive. We strive to care and share with our customers, our vendor partners, our staff members and community partners so that working together we can achieve success – in whatever way that is defined for the respective parties. One of the ways we at Mytech have demonstrated our value of Care and Share is that since we first started Mytech (even before we had our first paying customers) we had selected a few non-profit organizations to whom we would donate our IT services to help them in their mission. We continue to provide donated IT services to five Twin Cities non-profit organizations today to share with the community in which we live.

Those of you who have read this column over the past two years will know that our culture committee (comprised of Mytech staff, not the owners) identified all of our values – including Care and Share. It sounds simple, but we feel very strongly that our mission “To create success through a visionary approach to IT” is closely aligned with our entire organization choosing to Care and Share. As an IT services organization we are in a unique position to work with and support Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) and that market segment employs more people, generates more revenue and pays more taxes than all fortune 500 companies combined. We at Mytech care about our community and if we can share our experience and IT expertise with our customers and in a small way help them be successful, then we have made progress to improve our world.
