Mytech Culture Experience August 2014

It's fitting that I get to write this month's culture article, since I have been recognized as someone who embodies this value at Mytech. The value, "Create Fun and a Little Weirdness," can be interpreted differently by every individual we interact with in our lives...and that's the point! It's about finding what triggers the "inner funny bone" in people. No matter if it's a co-worker, family member, or friend, I try to find what makes them want to create fun and a little weirdness. This understanding helps me connect with them, appreciate what makes them unique, and build solid relationships.

"There's power in looking silly and not caring that you do."
– Amy Poehler

Each month, we typically highlight a Mytech employee that exemplifies the month's corresponding value, but I am taking a detour from the norm and am highlighting a vendor partner, Zia Hall from DELL SonicWALL.

In my position at Mytech, I work with a broad spectrum of representatives and vendors. You typically don't get to pick your representative when working with vendor partners, which means that you might have a closer relationship with some more than others. Zia was assigned as our new SonicWALL representative due to position changes and, in typical fashion, I tried to locate Zia's "inner funny bone" right away. She did not disappoint! The first time we got on the phone, she hit the ground running. She cracked jokes, called me her "Bestie", and created lots of fun and weirdness.

Why is this so important to me? Easy. When we get caught up in the rigmarole of day-to-day work, it's all too often we lose sight of what really matters - the trust and the relationships we build and foster with people. I know Zia will be there for me. She will exceed my expectations of a working business relationship. Zia will help out her "Bestie" in times of urgency, working hard and all the while doing it with a great attitude and sense of humor. She is a great Dell|SonicWALL employee and, more importantly, a great asset to Mytech Partners and all of the customers we serve.

Thank you, Zia, for being who you are and "Creating Fun and a Little Weirdness."
