Leadership - What Got You Here Won't Get You There

Most people are hired because of education, training, or experience. So people are hired based on their technical skills and how well they can perform certain tasks as individual contributors. These same skills and abilities may not suffice when the person moves into a team leadership role or is promoted into supervision or management. Positions like this begin to include people and process. Ideally, leadership candidates are assessed for their leadership potential before being moved in to such positions. And, they also need training on the people side of leadership.
